Statement of Beliefs

Statement of Spiritual Beliefs of Seed of Light Unity Temple. Individual members may hold additional personal spiritual beliefs that are also in line with our temple beliefs.

The Divine Unity and the Living God

We, the members of Seed of Light Unity Temple stand united in our belief in a singular, all-encompassing, and living Universal God. This Divine Presence interweaves the fabric of existence, binding all creation within its perfect unity. Our devotion transcends the boundaries of conventional worship, embracing a non-denominational path that honors the sacred in all its manifestations.

Natural and Holistic Living

In reverence of the Divine’s perfect creation, our bodies and spirits, we endeavor to lead lives that are in harmony with nature. We embrace a holistic lifestyle that nurtures our well-being, committing ourselves to the purity of the natural world and its bounties. Synthetic substances are approached with caution, reserved only for moments when life’s thread hangs by a delicate strand.

Plant Medicine and Healing

The earth provides us with sacred plants that possess the wisdom to heal our minds, bodies, and spirits. In our temple, we respect and utilize these plant medicines, not as mere remedies but as sacred tools for deeper spiritual connections and healing.

Christ Consciousness and Universal Oneness

Our teachings illuminate the path to Christ Consciousness, a state of divine enlightenment and unconditional love. We aspire to the Universal Oneness, the cosmic tapestry that connects all life. Each individual journey is cherished, as it is a path walked with the Divine, towards the Divine.

Ancestral Veneration and the Inner Divine

Honoring those who walked before us, our ancestors, is integral to our spiritual practice. It is through their wisdom and strength that we find the keys to our own divine essence. We foster a profound connection with the God within, embracing the immortal spark that resides in each of us.

The Journey of Self-Discovery

Life is a pilgrimage of self-discovery. Each soul carries the potential to forge a unique and intimate bond with the Immortal Universal Creator. Our temple serves as a sanctuary where this sacred relationship can flourish.

Spiritual Purification

We engage in rituals of cleansing and purification, rites that wash away the ephemeral and bring us closer to our purest selves. These practices are our sacred communion with the Divine, allowing us to emerge reborn in spiritual truth.

The Wisdom of Holy Texts

Our belief is not confined to a single holy script but is enriched by the diverse wisdom of various spiritual texts. These books are companions and guides along our spiritual quest, each a vessel of divine knowledge.

The Holy Spirit Within

We are the embodiment of the Divine; the Holy Spirit resides within us as our Highest Self. In recognizing this, we strive to manifest lives that reflect the perfection of the Universal Creator.

The Balance of Light and Dark

We acknowledge the existence of both light and darkness within the universe and within ourselves. Balancing these energies is the essence of our existence, a purpose that each of us must embrace to realize the full spectrum of our divine nature.

Spirit Guides and Their Guidance

Our paths are never walked alone. We believe in the existence of Spirit Guides, beings of light and wisdom who aid us in our spiritual journey. Through their guidance, we navigate the complexities of the material and spiritual worlds.

Our Spiritual Practice Encourages:

Religious Freedom Restoration Act of 1993

Religious Freedom Restoration Act of 1993 - Prohibits any agency, department, or official of the United States or any State (the government) from substantially burdening a person's exercise of religion even if the burden results from a rule of general applicability, except that the government may burden a person's exercise of religion only if it demonstrates that application of the burden to the person:

(1) furthers a compelling governmental interest and (2) is the least restrictive means of furthering that compelling governmental interest.

Sets forth provisions pertaining to judicial relief, attorney's fees, and applicability.

Declares that: (1) nothing in this Act shall be construed to interpret the clause of the First Amendment to the Constitution prohibiting the establishment of religion; (2) the granting of government funding, benefits, or exemptions, to the extent permissible under that clause, shall not constitute a violation of this Act; and (3) as used in this Act, "granting" does not include the denial of government funding, benefits, or exemptions.

Separation of Church and State

The separation of church and state is a philosophical and jurisprudential concept for defining political distance in the relationship between religious organizations and the state. Conceptually, the term refers to the creation of a secular state (with or without legally explicit church-state separation) and to disestablishment, the changing of an existing, formal relationship between the church and the state.[1] Although the concept is older, the exact phrase "separation of church and state" is derived from "wall of separation between church and state", a term coined by Thomas Jefferson.

FIRST AMENDMENT
Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof; or abridging the freedom of speech, or of the press; or the right of the people peaceably to assemble, and to petition the Government for a redress of grievances.
