The Power of Naming Your Intentions

Beloved Star Family, there is a quiet magic in giving your intention a name. It is one of the simplest, yet most profound acts of spiritual alignment you can do for yourself. When we speak, write, or inscribe our desires, we are not merely labeling a wish. We are creating a bridge between the unseen currents of Spirit and the physical world where we live and move each day.

When a person comes to me for a ritual or a piece of Living Altar artwork, one of the first things we do together is name the intention. Sometimes it is a single word, a phrase, a mantra, or even a prayer drawn from scripture or sacred text. Other times it is something only Spirit can reveal in the moment, something that resonates at a frequency that your mind cannot yet fully grasp. Naming it anchors it, gives it shape, and tells both you and the universe that this is no longer a vague hope. This is a call that is ready to be answered.
I have witnessed the power of this act countless times. When a client provides a mantra or affirmation, we inscribe it on their canvas, we speak it aloud during the consecration, and it is held within crystals, herbs, and the medicine wheel as the energy of their desire is woven into the artwork. The act of naming transforms an abstract yearning into something tangible, something that can be tended to, returned to, and felt as a living presence in your space.
The simple practice of naming intentions can extend beyond ritual art. You may begin your morning with a journal and allow yourself to write one clear intention for your day. You may say it aloud before you step into a new space, whether at work, in your home, or in the car before you start a journey. You may carry it in your mind as a quiet reminder that your energy is not passive, that you are actively creating and calling forth what is aligned with your spirit.
When we do not name our intentions, they remain untethered, floating like seeds without soil. They are vulnerable to distraction, fear, or hesitation. When we name them, when we give them voice and form, we invite the universe to recognize and respond. We tell ourselves and the spirits around us that this is sacred work, worthy of attention, worthy of ceremony.
It is not only the intention itself that is transformed, but also the person naming it. There is an undeniable shift in energy that occurs when we stop hiding our desires or waiting for permission. By naming what we seek, we claim our power and step fully into our own authority. We align our thoughts, our words, and our actions. We signal to Spirit that we are ready to receive and that we are willing to do the work necessary to honor that receiving.
Whether you are writing a prayer, crafting a mantra, or requesting a Living Altar, take your time. Listen for the word or phrase that resonates in your bones and in your heart. Speak it aloud if you can, write it clearly if you must. And know that by naming it, you are opening the door to a deeper relationship with yourself, your Spirit, and the energies that move through the world in service of your soul’s path.
Dearest Sisters and Brothers, there is power in this practice. There is clarity. There is focus. And there is a subtle joy that comes from acknowledging what you truly seek and giving it space to exist in the world. Allow yourself this simple, sacred act, and watch how it begins to ripple through your life in ways you may not have imagined.
Until next time, y'all...PEACE!!!
